Florida Crystals is a leading domestic sugar producer and North America’s first fully integrated cane sugar company, guiding our sugar from farm to table. We are America’s first and only producer of certified organic sugar, grown and harvested in the United States. Our renewable energy facility is the largest of its kind in North America and provides clean energy that powers our sugar operations, which helps us reduce our use of fossil fuels. Florida Crystals also sustainably farms rice, sweet corn and other vegetables in rotation with our sugarcane. Our rice mill is the only rice mill in Florida.

The SRDP (Sugar Rotational Development Program) is designed so the new employee will be exposed to variety of learning experiences in the field. OVERVIEW
It is a unique opportunity for the right college graduates to gain professional experience in the Sugar Industry. The positions are located at our facilities in western Palm Beach County. Florida Crystals Corporation is a leading domestic sugar producer that owns 155,000 acres of land, two sugar mills, a sugar refinery, a biomass renewable power plant, and a rice mill in Palm Beach County. These facilities farm and harvest sugarcane and rice for processing at the local mills. The position reports to the packaging Manager, the successful candidate will undertake a Packaging Engineer graduate training program.
POSITION STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES AND KEY DELIVERABLES
The initial purpose of the Packaging Graduate position is to learn about and obtain a broad experience of the packaging operations and our business generally. Very quickly, the Packaging Graduate position will then be required to contribute a high level of energy to the execution and continuous improvement of the packaging operations, based on their learning and experiences. Success in this role is based upon being able to demonstrate clear value to the business by executing against key objectives.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical
- Understand key packaging performance metrics including OEE
- Work on optimisation projects to provide continuous improvements in safety, hygiene, equality and OEE performance
- Evaluate new product development and packaging equipment investment opportunities
- Participate in line and equipment upgrades and installations, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the required specification
- Develop projects to reduce packaging overweights, packaging material wastage and remelt
- Work alongside the engineering team to ensure correct and relevant engineering documentation is available
- Use knowledge and experience to anticipate and mitigate engineering issues
- Assist the maintenance team to ensure maintenance activities are carried out efficiently
- Obtain a good understanding of the refinery process
- Obtain a full understanding of key safety, health and environmental hazards in each area and know how they are managed
Management
- Complete 11 months on crew, covering for shift supervisor/shift maintenance leads
- Experience supervising packing operations and provide cover for supervisors and managers where appropriate

ESSENTIAL WORK EXPERIENCES
- Experience of working in a Manufacturing or Production environment preferable
- Clear understanding of Safety and Quality standards
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Associate Degree (or higher) in Engineering, Packaging Science or related field from an accredited college / university.
