We are recruiting for a Community Support worker for the Young at Heart project which was initially developed in 2013, currently has 8 social groups including a gardening group and a successful befriending service.
Young at Heart is a community project led by Father Hudson’s Care and is delivered by local volunteers. It offers a range of activities, including social groups, lunch clubs and befriending, to combat social isolation faced by older people in Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire.
The successful candidate will deliver and co-ordinate social activities and befriending for older people in North Staffordshire with the aim of reducing social isolation and loneliness. You will also support and promote user-voice and volunteer-led approaches.
You will have experience in delivering services in community settings, have the ability to communicate with older people 1-1 and in group settings, showing active listening skills and empathy, practice planning skills and a full driving licence.
Contract Type: Fixed Term Position, for 12 months.
Hours: 37 hours per week. Monday - Thursday, 7.5 hour per day & Friday, 7 hours. May need to work evening and weekends if required. Part time hours will be considered.
