Description
Why work for The Bridge? There are a hundred reasons.
Maybe you’ve known someone suffer without help, or perhaps you’re tired of seeing the same new stories about homelessness? Join us and you can help change lives.
Everyone at The Bridge has heaps of energy and positivity, and we are lucky to say we start every day knowing we can make a difference to local people.
We are a small charity, but we’re also a close-knit family that’s organised, focussed and driven.
There are loads of great benefits to working for The Bridge, such as the extra holiday days or the flexible working. However, these benefits are not why you join in the first place... Or why you stay. From day one you’ll receive all the training you need. Here, helping you develop your career and skills is a top priority. We value you, partly because it’s the right thing to do, but also because it really helps you achieve what you came to The Bridge for: changing other people’s lives for the better.
In your role as an Outreach Officer, no day will be the same. In your efforts to support vulnerable individuals with complex needs in exploring accommodation options, your typical working day will begin at 6am to identify and build rapport with clients who are rough sleeping. You will have a visible presence in the Local Authority areas, building strong links with colleagues and the community through attending drop ins and other useful events.
Day to day support will range from supporting individuals to contact the Local Authority through to supporting with applications for rent in advance, and many things in between. Our holistic approach means supporting clients to improve their general well-being, whether this is supporting to relieve stress surrounding day-to-day appointments or helping them access specialist services to meet their health needs.
You will gain experience of working in partnership with colleagues in Local Authority Housing, Police and Social Care Sectors, as well as colleagues in the Voluntary Sector, to support and promote the best possible outcomes for our clients.
As a valued employee, you will receive day to day support during your time at The Bridge, but alongside this you will have regular supervisions with your line manager in order to ensure you are fully equipped to provide the high standard of support that your clients deserve.
