Exciting opportunities have arisen due to the development of new services and changes in Outpatients clinics and Surgical day services requirements and we are seeking enthusiastic & highly motivated individuals to join our friendly team as Band 2 Healthcare Support workers, various hours are available.
Our Outpatients and Day services department currently facilitates over 20 multi-specialty clinics, including Phlebotomy, Surgery, Medicine, Renal, Vascular, Ophthalmology, ENT, Gynaecology, Diabetes, Vasectomies, Carpel Tunnel and Minor Ops work and many more.
Currently, clinics are held Monday to Saturday, but the services have potential to expand to be running weekends and Bank Holidays in the future. Therefore, the successful candidate must be prepared to work Weekends and Bank Holidays as required by the service and be able to work hours flexibly to meet needs of the service..
As an HCSW in our busy Outpatients Department you will assist patients with their care requirements. You will be responsible for accurately updating patient information on to IT systems and undertaking clinical tasks. You will be expected to follow standard operating policies and prioritise your workload appropriately. The patient care areas need to be effectively maintained and stocked to ensure excellent patient care can be given at all times.

- Attend daily briefing meeting and prioritises clinic and work tasks.
- Set out clinic rooms
- Undertake venepuncture samples of adults and children in accordance with local policy
- Undertakes baseline observations, records and documents findings in patient case notes or on line. Refers any abnormal findings to medical personnel or advises patient to see own GP
- Assessing and undertaking Visual Acuity recordings
- Administration of eye drops under the agreed local protocol
- Assist with minor surgical procedures and offering re-assurance to the patient.
- Participating within the day surgery environment including circulation role, hand holder, admission and post op care.
