Key Responsibilities:

This position is required to lead and direct (GSE) ground service equipment maintenance operations at United major (100+ Mechanic) hub maintenance operations and has direct leadership oversight of regionally assigned locations. Responsible for the local (TCO) total cost of ownership (10M+) and cost efficiency, maintenance planning and execution, preventative maintenance and mandatory project program compliance, productivity, accountability and dependability program management, safety and OSHA program compliance, local state & federal environmental code compliance and (SLA) service level agreement compliance delivering the optimum level of GSE in support of safe and reliable airline operations. Partners with all local customer bases ensuring positive customer relations and service level goals achieved.

  • Lead team performance and execution against all division and corporate maintenance objectives on fleets in excess of 4K assets
  • This includes maintenance customer (SLA) service level agreement compliance, maintenance cycle time, all in service level goals/tolerances, planned and preventative maintenance program compliance
  • Lead efficient and effective team maintenance operations in a positive, productive and safe work environment for teams with 100+ Mechanics
  • Handle maintenance productivity, technical training, employee dependability, team recognition and employee accountability programs in accordance with policy
  • Establishes and maintains a collaborative and productive business relationship with local union representatives
  • Responsible for the local (TCO) total cost of ownership and cost efficiency of local and regional maintenance operations in excess of 10M annual spend
  • This includes all financial and staff planning, accounting and the budgetary compliance of hub location and assigned region
  • Lead safe and environmentally compliant maintenance operations
  • Handle all safety/OSHA, environmental and training programs in accordance with corporate policy
  • Handles safety mitigation program and leads investigations that support root cause analysis of accidents, injuries and incidences involving ground service equipment or team personnel
  • Maintains proactive communication and positive relations with maintenance team and customer group stakeholders
  • Lead maintenance team engagement and communication programs
  • Handles accurate and effective customer reporting and communication programs while sustaining positive customer service and effectiveness ratings

What’s needed to succeed:

  • Technical degree or maintenance leadership work experience can be substituted
  • 2 years experience in a maintenance leadership role
  • Experience Planning, managing or supervising ground equipment maintenance operations
  • Financial planning and management
  • Performance planning and management
  • Leading Union employee relations
  • 5% to 10% travel may be required
