Indigo Antiques is a family business with 45 years of experience and a unique offering being the largest supplier of Indian, Chinese, Tibetan, & Oriental antique furniture & homewares in the UK. We are unique in that we carry out all our restoration and finishing in house in our Wiltshire workshops. Our passion is to share our knowledge and love of Asian art, encouraging our customers to feel the same way.
Restorers will be working in a large & spacious workshop with their own work benches. Work attire is casual but smart. We promote a relaxed and fun, yet clean atmosphere with plenty of on the job training. We encourage outside the box thinking and can assure you you'll be learning plenty of new techniques.

Overview
We’re looking for a driven and creative individual with a passion for antique restoration & conservation to join our growing team in a full time position. You’ll be jointly responsible for the ongoing restoration & conservation of Oriental antiques ensuring the highest level of quality control on customer purchases. You will be working on a wide variety of pieces, hardy Indian campaign chests, delicate lacquer chinoiserie boxes and cabinets, perfectly crafted Japanese tansu chests, and much more. You will be required to sympathetically restore and conserve antique oriental furniture & homewares with care, love, passion, and attention to detail using traditional techniques and materials. Every product we sell is unique with its own story and it will be your job to ensure a continual high quality product is delivered to our customers.
Responsibilities
- Restoration & conservation of oriental antique furniture & homewares.
- Restoration of paintings and chinoiserie using traditional earth and mineral pigments.
- Growth of @indigoantiquesrestores Instagram page.
- Content creation and publishing for @indigoantiquesrestores Instagram page demonstrating restoration & conservation techniques
- Fitting of mirrors & cutting glass
- Unloading & unpacking shipments from India & China
- Quality control checking on customer orders with repairs, restoration and finishing if required.
- Maintain good stock control through business systems & processes
- Achieving company growth through maintaining a high quality of workmanship and well-paced productivity
- Ensure a clean and tidy working environment
Qualifications
- Skill in antique furniture restoration
- Experience in painting restoration (fine art or similar)
- Basic knowledge of carpentry
- An eagerness to learn new skills and think on your feet
- Good problem-solving ability
- Organisational skills
- Written & computer literacy
- Ability to multi-task, maintain focus and accuracy under pressure and to tight deadlines
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £20,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
