The BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales occupies a special role as both a BBC broadcast orchestra and the national symphony orchestra of Wales. As one of the six BBC Orchestras and Choirs, the Orchestra has a busy schedule of recordings, broadcasts and concerts for BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Cymru, BBC Films and BBC television, across Wales, the UK and beyond. Education is also at the heart of our work, developing innovative projects to increase accessibility to classical music and engaging with communities across Wales.
The Orchestra Administrator is a key position with the Operations Team, and provides administrative and financial support to the orchestra and the management team.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe Orchestra Administrator supports the day to day running of orchestral operations including logistical planning and bookings, relevant internal and external documentation, and financial processes. As part of a duty rota, you will also support the live events of the orchestra and be a point of contact for guest artists and conductors.
Are you the right candidate?A demonstrable interest in classical music is essential, and knowledge of orchestral structures, repertoire and instruments is required to be successful in this role, probably most appropriately represented with a relevant qualification or equivalent work experience. You will have outstanding administrative skills with a keen eye for detail, and excellent IT skills, including proficiency in use of MS Office, with the willingness to learn. You will have the ability to prioritise and plan activities and have strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build strong relationships with a range of people. You will have a willingness to work outside of standard office hours.
