Optical Assistant Position
Huw Bellamy Optometrist situated on Brynymor Road in Swansea is an independent practice established 50+ years. We are looking for a well-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our small team as an Optical Assistant. You will be the first point of contact for many of our enquiries so excellent customer service and communication skills are essential. We need a warm and friendly individual, putting people at ease and helping them quickly and efficiently. On a day-to-day basis, your role will include using our patient management system to book appointments so basic IT skills are essential. We are looking for applicants who are comfortable working both in a team and independently in a busy environment whilst keeping the patient journey a priority. This role is for 3 days a week 9.00am to 5.30pm (Monday to Friday only) and holiday or sickness cover as required. To start by end of April 2023 with training provided. Potential to increase working hours over the next few years.
Job Description
- Using the computer system to make appointments and process payments.
- Filing patient records and administrative tasks.
- Retail sales which require product knowledge.
- Be a first point of contact for any enquiries, both over the phone and face-to-face with patients.
- Work closely with Optometrists and Optical Assistants to keep the clinic running smoothly.
- Assist patients in choosing their spectacle frames (full training to be given).
- Repairing and adjusting frames (full training to be given).
- Light cleaning duties to keep reception area tidy.
- Sickness and holiday cover as required.
- Cashing up and banking.
- Stock control and ordering.
- 25 days annual leave pro rate ie: 15 days plus bank holidays.
