Job description
Essential Functions:
- Upholds Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.
- Provides direction to Centrex operators by assignment of daily operator duties.
- Reviews and recommends revisions to departmental procedures to ensure efficient utilization of staff.
- Performs various clerical duties such as maintaining department on-line directory system, producing daily on-call schedule, pager programming and assignments.
- Serves as intermediary between supervisor and operators.
- Trains or orients new or less experienced personnel and serves as resource person to co-workers by answering procedural questions and assisting in problem resolution.
- Receives, routes, and transfers incoming and outgoing calls.
- Pages physicians and hospital personnel following policy and procedures.
- Activates beeper page and prescribed public address emergency page code in response to emergencies.
- Serves as central communication point for all in-house emergencies; i.e., Code Red and Code Blue.
- Instructs patients in the use of hospital phone system.
- Performs routine cleaning and preventive maintenance on workstation and departmental equipment.
- Establishes and maintains courteous, cooperative relations with the public, patients, and other personnel.
- Performs other duties as required such as maintaining and updating various logs, lists, and files and does miscellaneous typing.

Basic Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of PBX experience.
- One (1) year of experience as Lead, Health Care Communications preferred.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent OR relevant formal training/education in PBX/CBX required.
- 25-wpm typing speed, preferred.
- Effective oral communication skills.
- Ability to read, write and enunciate English.
