THE ROLE
The Operations Technician is responsible for the safe operation of the plant from the control room with focus on ensuring production demands are met whilst adhering to safety and quality standards. Additionally you will assist with 'outside' operational duties as and when required.
The position reports directly to a Shift Team Leader.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of all activities on site including gasification plant, a high-pressure boiler, economizer and FGT, turbine and generator, together with associated auxiliary plant - including first-line fault diagnosis
- Operating / monitoring the plant from the DCS system, operate other auxiliary systems and equipment as required by the operational demands
- Carry out routine plant inspections and adjustments / operations as required collecting and recording plant data
- Work within the company’s health and safety, quality and environmental management system and all relevant legislation
REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCES
We are open to considering applicants from a range of different industry backgrounds, it's not essential to have prior experience in the Waste-to-Energy field.
We would however expect suitable applicants to have prior experiences of at least some of the following;
- Technical Qualification or Certificate in relevant Engineering discipline (or equivalent by exception)
- Process engineering background, preferably in the power industry including steam raising plant
- Experience gained through working in a continuous process environment, preferably with experience of working shifts
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage own and team workloads, often under time & cost pressure
- Ability to influence groups and individuals within the organisation, in order to gain their commitment to deliver business objectives and the ability to positively influence and create behaviour and attitude changes
