About Us:
North Air is responsible for providing into-plane services on behalf of major oil companies. We operate at 20 locations across the UK, where we carry out approximately 300 000 fuelling’s per year and manage fuel farms on behalf of our customers. We aim to provide safe, reliable, and efficient into-plane services to our customers' satisfaction.

The Role:
This role will operate between the Operations Manager and Operators, being responsible for communicating organizational needs, overseeing employees' performance, providing guidance, support and identifying the development needs of the operational team.
Operations Supervisors are also responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the company’s airport fuelling operations, ensuring our customer requirements for fuel quality, safety, environmental protection and service levels, are met.
The salary for this role is up to £45,000k (depending on experience). You must hold a HGV class C licence.
You will have a strong supervisory background ideally in the Aviation sector or a similar fast paced industry, you must have demonstrable experience of managing teams including, absence management, performance management, employee relations and other staff management activities. The role will also involve customer contact so excellent communication skills combined with an ability to develop strong relationships with customers and stakeholders, is a must.
You will be responsible for ensuring that safe operations are maintained through correct working procedures and will encourage and inspire team members to follow North Air safety initiatives at all times.
You will be a team player and someone who is prepared to challenge the status quo, bringing new ideas and solutions, in order to support development of the Operation.
People:
- Monitoring the wellbeing of Operators, through observation, conducting regular 1-2-1’s/ wellbeing conversations
- Conducting return to work interviews after any periods of absence, making appropriate interventions where any risks are identified
- Conduct first level informal and formal disciplinaries as required
- Manage shift pattens, holidays and overtime to ensure efficient coverage within the operation
Health and Safety:
- Ensure the safety of staff, visitors/ contractors and 3rd parties who are working on sitE
- Immediate reporting and recording of any incidents, near misses and spills, investigate issues, taking any appropriate actions and reporting on outcomes and conducting investigations
- Carry out Safety Observations & Conversations (SOC’s), record discussions and ensure any issues are acted upon promptly
- Provide leadership and training in maintaining a safe working environment for all members of the operation team
Operations:
- Supervise Operators airside, ensuring that safe operations are maintained through correct working procedures. This is a key part of the role, and the expectation is that Supervisors will spend around 60% of their time on this activity
- Supervise Administration Assistant activities ensuring effective and efficient utilisation of duties
- Where appropriate, deputise for the Site Manager in his absence
- On an exceptional basis, assist with Fuel Farm activities and tasks during peak periods and/or times of staff shortage
Customers:
- Liaise as necessary with customers on all aspects of operations including fuel reciepts, incidents, reports and near misses
- Represent North Air at airport and airline meetings, customer visits and 3rd party audits / inspections
- Ensure customer safety and satisfaction is prioritised within the operational team
- Investigate and respond to customer queries and complaints. Implement any corrective / preventive measures resulting from these investigations
Ramp Users:
- Represent the interests of North Air and its employees at Airport ramp safety meetings.
- Encourage other ramp users to invest time and effort in safety initiatives proposed by North Air
- Participate in Airport & Local airline working groups, forums and safety meetings
- Ensure North Air is proactive in all matters relating to HSSE on the ramp

Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- LGV Class 2
- Ability to coach, lead and direct others
- Strong Influencing Skills
- Clear communicator
- Good understanding of employment conditions
- Previous experience of supervising others
Desirable:
- Demonstrable operational experience in the Aviation industry or a related business with experience of Fuel Farm management as an advantage
- CMI Level 5 or ILM or other leadership qualification, would be an advantage
