Operations Specialist – Finance Datamart - Business Intelligence & Analytics

The Finance Data & Analytics Office (c.260 colleagues) has recently been formed and we are evolving our data & analytics offering, our culture, and our mind-set to craft a true data-led organisation. Our data mission is at the centre of the Finance transformation strategy.
Operations Specialist role
Location(s): Gloucester or Bristol
Annual base salary: £56,421 - £62, 690 + exceptional
Hours: [Full-Time]
Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week currently, or 40% of our time, at our Gloucester or Bristol office.
This is a specialist technical role responsible for handling and maintaining all operational activities within the Finance Datamart (FDM) production whilst developing new batch schedules to improve simplification, automation, and efficiency where the role supports cross-disciplinary teams. The FDM delivers informative, high quality customer driven data to internal and external partners.

As part of your role, you’ll
-
Ensure all batch schedules are completed within agreed SLA's and errors/issues are thoroughly investigated to identify root cause and remedial steps are developed and implemented.

Lead development of FDM batch schedules to drive improvements in automation and efficiencies whilst maintaining strict quality controls.

Support development of FDAO Solutions and critical BAU activities.

Follow all relevant governance practices and operational standards to ensure the secure delivery of services.

Devise, implement and continually review operations methodology to ensure high quality solutions are delivered and maintained.

Deliver own small-scale projects by working within an established project plan.

Uncovers emerging issues and/or needs and identify potential causes, related issues, key customers, and barriers.

Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, then use established methodology to deliver outcomes and/or provide support services.

Provide support to FDAO, Retail Finance, the broader mortgage community and Group IT.

Develop relationships with business partners based on a track record of delivering solutions that fulfil requirements.

Key experience and skills

Strong Oracle PL/SQL and UNIX (AIX) coding skills.

Deep understanding of data warehousing strategy and business intelligence solution design.

Detailed understanding of data warehouse methodology and principles of Dimensional Modelling.
Desirable experience & skills:

Good understanding of Connect: Direct scripting.

Sound knowledge of business intelligence technology.
