About the Job
Relationships mean everything to us, and this one is particularly special. You’ll have an important part to play in automotive success that spans nearly 50 years. Unipart Logistics (UL) has secured a contract to run the new, custom-built Jaguar Land Rover Global Parts Logistics Centre at Appleby Magna in Leicestershire. The operation will be housed at Jaguar Land Rover’s new Mercia Park campus, one of the largest UK warehouse developments for a single customer. With a multimillion-pound major facility investment program already underway, we would like you to join us now to be part of the core team. This is a great opportunity to be a major part of the successful implementation of what is said to be the largest automotive logistics project in the UK.
We don’t just have a way of working, we have The Unipart Way. It allows everyone in our team to pursue their own personal and professional goals to a world class level, through Unipart's ‘From Gate to Great’ training and development program.
As Operations Manager you will lead, manage, and motivate a team of managers to achieve business goals; through focusing on continuous improvement, quality, and attention to detail. You will plan and manage customer requirements whilst focusing on financial targets and the development of your team.
As part of your key responsibilities you’ll:
- Maintain and enforce company policies and be responsible for your teams to do the same
- Lead a team of first line managers to ensure they are effective leaders and act in line with policy, employment law regulations and the Unipart Leadership Fundamentals
- Ensure health and safety standards are achieved on an on-going basis and actively promote individual responsibility for health and safety
- Recruit exceptional people into the business and then develop colleagues through, using succession planning for the future
- Build and maintain strong mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers, service providers, customers, and colleagues
- Maintain all aspects of stock integrity and ensure ownership of activities and resolutions
- Ensure operating procedures and processes meet quality requirements and support performance improvement objectives; taking into account the need to respond to volume fluctuations and changes in business and customer needs
- Manage and plan for operational requirements against forecast and demand
- Liaise with customer representatives to resolve problems and maintain partnership relationships
