The Post – Operations Manager

The post holder will support the Senior Facilities Manager in delivering excellence in the aspect of our student experience across the estates and campuses, whilst ensuring that all remedial works comply with requirements, deliver value for money and ensuring that the service operates effectively. The post holder will be responsible for assembling, leading, managing and co-ordinating varying sizes of Internal and External teams, serving Campus Services to provide effective interaction with the University community, while initiating and exploring means within the team improving efficiencies and effectiveness.

The remit will also include financial responsibility, ensuring all services are delivered in an effective and efficient manner, with responsibility for managing the helpdesk system (CAFM), including the utilisation of management data and reports to ensure operational decisions are fully informed.


The successful candidate should have the following:

  • Degree or relevant qualification in facilities management or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Full current driving Licence
  • Significant experience of an HE environment or equivalent experience within a complex environment.
  • Budgetary and financial management experience
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Experience of line management of staff.
  • Experience of facilities management functions including CAFM systems.
  • Experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience of managing change in a complex environment.
  • Effective developer of relationship management with both internal and external stakeholders

You will bring effective leadership skills with an inclusive approach in managing a diverse team. You must be adept at communicating and influencing with a proven capacity to engage, motivate and empower staff as well as a proven aptitude in enabling high performance. With drive, enthusiasm, and tenacity you will be accustomed to operating within busy environment and have a broad understanding of emerging trends and innovative approaches to deliver enhanced customer services to key customer groups.
