Schedule depending on events/projects that may fall into the evenings and weekends as needed.
- Planning, setup, execution and tear down of events requiring technical expertise in the field of sound reinforcement.
- Supervision of the Events Manager and Operations Supervisor, who will interview, hire and train AV and setup personnel, including UTA students without previous experience. Plans, coordinates, and communicates their duties and schedules.
- Sound Systems, Audio-Visual Equipment, and Asset Management. Responsible for:
- The inventory, care, and maintenance of audio-visual systems and components and other related equipment.
- The safe and secure storage and transportation of all audio-visual equipment.
- Prepares, communicates and documents safety procedures and standard operating procedures.
- Requisitions and maintains inventory of materials, supplies, tools, and parts to meet needs of events and ongoing maintenance.
- Maintains records of work, maintenance programs, and equipment.
- Evaluate audio-video system integration and installation, suggest improvements and upgrades, and manage appropriate technical-related capital projects.
- Works closely with Event Managers, including those at UTA Special Event Facilities, to fulfill requests for stage, audio and lighting equipment to ensure arrangement conforms to users’ specifications.
- Provides estimation of labor and equipment costs and tracks order through billing.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Two (2) years of college with coursework in technical theater, electronic technology, communications, music, or related field.
- Thorough training/knowledge of sound reinforcement systems, audio-visual aspects of events and their implementation, and all components.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in live sound with administrative and supervisory experience.
- Four (4) or more years of experience in the hands-on operation of audio-visual gear.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Training in workplace safety, both general and specific to electrical power.
- Ability to complete all physical tasks as needed.
- Thorough working knowledge of equipment and technique associated with sound reinforcement equipment such as speakers, amplifiers, wired and wireless microphones, mixers, processors, portable PA’s, rigging systems, power systems and intercom.
- Live audio-visual experience with many different types of events, including meetings, lectures, video playback, performing arts shows and concerts.
- Advanced knowledge of digital audio-visual systems, computers and networking.
- Training and experience with FFT-based audio measurement systems.
- Personal competencies in flexibility/adaptability and judgement/problem solving.
- Advanced verbal communication skills necessary for directing personnel and for service-oriented client interaction.
- Experience with project management of multiple tasks/initiatives.
- Ability to work at significant heights comfortably and safely via lifts and ladders.
- Working knowledge of MS Office including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Bachelor’s degree in technical theater, electronic technology, communications, music or related field.
- Touring experience with a road-based show or event service provider.
- Four (4) or more years of experience as audio, lighting, or technical lead for road house, or comparable event space.
- Negotiating, writing and executing contracts with service providing unions or vendors.
