We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Operations Manager. In this role, you will oversee schools in Bedford and Cambridgeshire area. You will have the opportunity to lead and guide the financial and commercial performance of the units. You will proactively coach and mentor teams, and support the sales team on site retention and new business endeavours. Your contributions will directly impact the well-being of clients, communities, and employees, making a significant difference in their lives.

We are seeking a candidate with proven P&L experience and excellent interpersonal skills to join our team. As the role involves interacting with diverse individuals, we value someone who can easily connect with people.

The ideal candidate should possess the ability to plan and nurture the growth of team members individually. While a cooking background is not mandatory, a motivating personality is essential for this position. Basic knowledge of health and safety will be advantageous.

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee school contracts across the designated geographical area, ensuring staffing, training, client relationships, and leadership excellence.
  • Foster positive client relationships and effective communication throughout the contract tenure.
  • Maintain a consistent standard of food and service across all sites, with proactive training and mentoring.
  • Organize and execute effective mobilization and retention activities.
  • Implement and uphold statutory and company standards for policies, food hygiene, health, and safety.
  • Collaborate with business development, presenting food innovations and success stories.
  • Provide on-site pro-active craft and gross margin training to optimize profit and reduce wastage.

What you bring:

  • Operational knowledge, skills and experience in managing multi-site operations
  • Ability to understand the clients and Company business strategies
  • Financially and commercially competent, able to negotiate terms with clients to the benefit of Sodexo
  • Experience in managing P&L accounts and acting on results
  • Strong numeracy and attention to detail skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret figures, data and spreadsheets to manage the accounts in the business area.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with customers and manage their expectations
  • Understanding of contracts and what is being delivered
  • Soft client relationship management skills, strong influencing, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of risk and compliance processes, protocols, escalations and resolution methods
  • Demonstrable people skills with experience in people management and a desire to create a one team approach
  • Excellent communication skills - able to talk to people at all levels and adapt style accordingly, logical mind with the ability to resolve problems
  • Ability to follow statutory and Company policies and procedures and guidance e.g. HR, Safeguard
  • Ability to approach a range of issues in a sensitive and diplomatic way

Salary: £35,000.00-£39,000.00 per year
