Who We Are
Lay-Up Youth Basketball is a charitable organization changing the future of access to basketball in Toronto through cost-free basketball, culture of basketball programs, youth coach development and partnership development. Lay-Up delivers evidence-based programs designed to give youth what they need on and off the court in Neighbourhood Improvement Areas across Toronto.
We combine a high-quality basketball experience with best-practices in youth development to foster meaningful relationships and equip children and youth for success. Lay-Up is dedicated to breaking down the barriers to access to sport for youth, women and girls, and coaches.

Operations Manager
The Operations Manager will work as a part of the leadership team in support of building and maintaining organizational processes, will lead on many day-to-day operational elements, play a role in program administration and support of key communications functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Human Resources:
- Support with the hiring and recruitment process (creating and updating job descriptions, and involvement in posting, recruiting, screening, interviews, training, etc.);
- Lead in the development of Lay-Up manuals, policies and procedures, guidelines etc.;
- Continually refine the onboarding process and lead the onboarding of new team members;
- Manage the filing of monthly expenses and reimbursements;
- Support in hours tracking and running the payroll system;
- Ensure the collection, updating and maintenance of all employee records.
Communications:
- Collaborate with the team and support the development of communication and marketing collateral such as monthly newsletters, press releases, program summaries and reports, decks, and website updates;
- Assemble and distribute monthly Culture of Basketball round-ups;
- Communicate with graphic design and other team members in support of content development and creation behind all Lay-Up Campaigns;
- Manage, coordinate, and brief any creative agencies, freelancers on required work, social channel rollouts & design needs;
- Update Lay-Up’s social media content calendar;
- Support Board Meeting communications.
Database, Measurement & IT:
- Monitor general emails and communication platforms (registration, employment, partnerships, general inquiries, etc.);
- Update and monitor the general database, registration, waivers and permit applications across different platforms;
- Support with data collection, measurement and analysis;
- Monitor and communicate needed updates to web support for the Lay-Up website.
Skills and Requirements
- 2-5 years experience working in similar position;
- Experience in program design and evaluation techniques, reporting, policy and regulatory frameworks, and research tools;
- Highly proficient in G Suite and the ability to pick up new software and tools.
- Knowledge of different platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, Mailchimp, Wix, Hootsuite etc.;
- Self-directed and able to work both independently, and in a fast-paced collaborative team environment;
- Ability and passion to advocate credibly for Lay-Up participants to prospects, partner organizations and volunteers;
- Passionate about the sport and culture around basketball;
- Alignment with Lay-Up’s core values, including a commitment to diversity and a positive culture.
Time Commitment
The Operations Manager is a commitment of 40 hours per week, which can fluctuate based on fundraising cycle. As a member of the management team, the manager is exempt from overtime.
Compensation
This position has an annual salary of $65,000 - $75,000 (rate is commensurate with experience) with additional health benefits and three weeks of annual vacation time.
Professional Development
Lay-Up will provide $1,000 per year directed towards personal and professional development related to the role. Additional training and development opportunities are provided through Lay-Up’s broad community of partners.
