ROLE PURPOSE:

As Impax continues its significant growth this role has been created to assist the build out of the global Portfolio Services team. Primarily, the Operations Manager will add governance and control to the team by taking on many oversight responsibilities including; post trade operations oversight, cash management and other asset servicing control.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage the day to day tasks within the Investment Operations team ensuring team culture is optimal, members are happy and have a robust attitude to operational risk. Ensure the team are cross trained across roles and asset classes and assist the team head with development and succession plans. Line management responsibilities for Investment operations team members, including catch ups, development and appraisals.
  • Oversight of Investment operations post trade operations including trade support & asset servicing Work with the trading desk and implementation team to ensure that the trade lifecycle is working optimally.
  • Oversight of outsourced daily reconciliation service, liaising with counterparties and service providers. Ensure adherence to the firms’ ISAE 3402 controls.
  • Assist the Listed Equity Valuation Committee, ensuring that all security pricing is robust and accurate.
  • Oversee the management of the Corporate Action process, liaising with analysts and portfolio managers, and ensuring the elections are made in a timely manner.
  • Oversee account cash management, including the materialflowsand working with Portfolio Managers and the trading to ensure that there are mechanisms/frameworks in place to invest optimally.
  • Identify and manage high risk areas within the team, ensure appropriate escalation takes place within the firm.
  • Ensure that Investment Operations controls are robust, documented and enhanced as new initiatives and further automation are introduced.
  • Assist in the reduction of operational and settlement risk on all managed funds.
  • Lead the Investment operations Client Change Management process.
  • Daily escalation for third party administrators and vendors. Ensure that management information and KPIs are maintained across the relevant team functions.
  • Assist the Business Management team in the oversight of key operational vendors
  • Assist with the recommendations and implementation of bespoke and third party automated solutions.
  • Present trading management information monthly to the Portfolio Services group and Middle Office Front Office working group.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE:

  • 7 - 10 years within a buy side Investment operations or Operations team
  • Line management experience is preferred
  • Equity and Fixed Income experience is preferred
  • Automation experience and a key understanding of operational risk is preferred.
  • IOC qualifications an advantage
  • Manages themselves and processes effectively. Showing respect for individuals and Company culture, including brand management.
  • End to end knowledge of own function and broad understanding of Investment operations functions and the business as a whole.
