Job description
Job Description
At Heriots’ we have ambitious plans and as our Senior Operations Manager, you can expect to be a crucial part of our team for growth. As the business expands, you will build your team around you. You will report directly to the owner and be singularly responsible for developing the site from its early days into a well-managed, efficient operation whilst making sure that all current legislation is complied with. The production team is currently 25 people but will quickly expand under your management to match demand.
The early months of your employment will involve building processes and systems to ensure that there are metrics in place to control our efficiency, product quality, team satisfaction, health and safety and food safety. If required, external help will be available, however, the systems will be yours to build /adopt, implement and manage.
You will help the owner develop their manufacturing strategy by forecasting growth and planning for the people, systems and equipment that will be needed to fulfil those forecasts.
This is a role for a hands-on person. You must enjoy the challenge of building teams to make great food as much as developing business strategy with the owner. If you are as happy with your sleeves rolled up in the production bakery as you are in the office, then you are the right person for the job.
Your success will be gauged against multiple factors which will be discussed during the interview. They will be based on product quality, manufacturing efficiency, team satisfaction, site legal compliance. To a large extent, the company KPIs will be your KPIs. Budgets will be negotiated and agreed within 3 months from your start date.
