Our Cash Solutions business has expertise in cash and valuables transportation, cash processing, ATM and cash centre secure storage. As an Operations Manager in our cash transportation team, you will be at the very heart of our operation. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the resources and work processes of the department effectively and efficiently to ensure the contractual obligations to customers are achieved. To continually monitor and improve service levels, productivity, profitability and security of the whole ATM/CIT department within Company guidelines. Achieve results through Section Managers and staff.
The Role
Reporting to the General Manager, this senior management role will be responsible for the overall development, financial improvement and coordination of operational processes and functions across the site. Success will be demonstrated through systemic improvement in the site’s KPIs of service, quality, cost and budget control, and will be achieved through effective development and support of the functional departments – allowing respective managers to develop and deliver functional improvements and ensure excellence in performance and stability across the site.
As Operations Manager, you’ll be the most senior person on site for long periods and must therefore take full responsibility for managing the team, ensuring that holidays, and all aspects of human resource management are followed. You will be expected to drive “best practice” in all areas of the business and challenge existing processes, while motivating all employees, encouraging optimum productivity. This will include developing, training, assisting and advising Section Managers as they administer company policies and procedures.

What makes a successful Operations Manager?
To perform the role successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily based on the knowledge, skill and ability required. It is essential that you have experience within a cash processing/transport logistics or financial operation or a similar period of management experience within a modern manufacturing facility where processes, including Continuous Improvement/Lean Methodologies were practised. You must have:
Demonstrable managerial experience in an operational environment - requiring on-time, on-quality, on-cost, delivery of service, and be able to accept responsibility and make decisions appropriate to the level of the role
Proven ability to define, measure and analyse processes, identifying improvement opportunities, and manage the project to verifiable completion
Demonstrable experience in structured root cause problem solving within a fast paced process environment
Line Management experience – with leadership and staff development capabilities, preferably within a unionised environment
Excellent communication and instructional skills.
It would be helpful but not essential if you have some budgetary (P&L) capability and proficient computer skills. Ideally you have previously demonstrated proficiency in time and project management, and have some of the following:
Experience in a cultural change, acquisition integration or cultural change environment
Ability to assess key business metrics and situations from a senior manager’s point of view
Experience in 'new product introduction'
Experience of fleet maintenance/engineering contracts
A National Road Haulage CPC holder
Excellent knowledge of transport legislation.
We also have some specific security criteria that you will need to meet:
- You must be able to pass a criminal record check as well as a personal credit and ID check.
- You must also have a 10 year employment/unemployment/educational history that we can check and verify.
- You will need to be prepared to undergo airport style searches when entering and leaving our premises and be comfortable working within a secure and confined environment.
- An SIA licence would be beneficial.
