Discovery Stone Surfaces is a new stone worktops fabrication company looking to begin operations in August 2023. Part of the Malcolm, Ogilvie & Co group, the management have a wealth of experience in various manufacturing markets which they are looking to transfer into the Quartz and granite worktops industry. We have invested in top of the range stone fabrication machinery, have a well-established site in West Pitkerro Ind Est, and already developed supply chain partners and an interested customer base.

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Manager to oversee our operations at Discovery Stone Surfaces. As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing the production operations, optimising efficiency, ensuring quality standards are met, and leading a small team of production staff.
Your primary objective will be to drive productivity, meet production targets, and maintain a safe and organized work environment. With the support of machinery experts and in-house engineers, you will also be fully trained in the operations and maintenance of the machinery with the capability to carry out minor machinery fixes.
Responsibilities:
Production Management:
· Develop and implement production plans, schedules, and workflows to ensure efficient operations.
· Monitor production processes to meet quality standards, optimise productivity, and minimise waste.
· Regularly review and analyse production data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
· Clear communication with Management to ensure availability of raw materials.
Team Leadership:
· Supervise and mentor a small team of production staff, providing guidance and support to maximize their performance.
· Set clear expectations, assign tasks, and monitor individual and team performance.
· Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and employee engagement.
· Identify training needs, conduct performance evaluations, and implement training and development initiatives for the team.
Quality Control:
· Establish and enforce quality control measures to ensure the production of high-quality stone worktops.
· Conduct regular inspections to verify adherence to specifications, standards, and customer requirements.
· Investigate and resolve any quality-related issues, implementing preventive measures to avoid reoccurrence.
Safety and Compliance:
· Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment for all employees.
· Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards, conducting regular safety audits, and implementing corrective actions.
· Monitor and enforce adherence to company policies, procedures, and industry regulations.
Continuous Improvement:
· Proactively identify opportunities for process optimisation, cost reduction, and productivity enhancement.
· Implement lean manufacturing principles and best practices to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
· Lead and support initiatives for process improvements, equipment upgrades, and technological advancements.
Requirements:
· Proven experience (5+ years) in a managerial role within a stone or manufacturing industry.
· Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse production team.
· Proficient in implementing lean manufacturing principles and process improvement methodologies.
· Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
· Strong organisational and time management skills.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.
· Good knowledge of stone worktop industry including key manufacturing processes and experience with handling the raw materials.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £40,000.00-£43,000.00 per year
