Operations Manager
Based in Hillington, Glasgow, Coughtrie International has been manufacturing industrial products over 80 years. Now, due to the addition of a new division, a vacancy has arisen for an experienced, hands-on production manager. Reporting into the Managing Director, the role of Operations Manager will be responsible for a busy production area, maintaining our record of fast delivery and right first time, maximising KPI's (Quality, Productivity, OTIF etc). and achievement of production targets.
Other main focuses will be to interact with the supply chain and to improve existing processes through the application of lean tools and techniques. The role will also involve engaging teams in continuous improvement and 5S initiatives. This is a hands on role in a small business and requires someone who is willing to get stuck in rather than sit behind a computer.
You will be well versed in assembly within an electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or electromechanical operations environment and must have the experience and personality to bring change to the production function but do this in a sensible progressive way.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the whole production process and a small team of production operators / line supervisors
- Production planning, scheduling and materials purchasing and control.
- Minimise the time and cost of production.
- Plan, schedule and organise production to give a smooth problem free process with a reliable forecast of completion dates.
- Maintain the motivation of production staff and maximise their productivity.
- Manage the introduction of design changes and product improvements to minimise the disruption to production
- Assist with the implementation of quality standards
- Champion the supply chain development process with direct responsibility for materials control.
