Job description

Bristol Airport is the South West's gateway to the world, with flights to over 125 destinations. We have ambitious plans, from supporting our strong business recovery to continuing our success with our long-term sustainability strategy. The ultimate vision – to be everyone’s favourite airport, delivering a future we can be proud of. It’s an incredibly exciting time to work at Bristol Airport and working within our Commercial team is no exemption.

We’re seeking a Retail Operations Executive to join us here at Bristol Airport on a permanent basis.

Reporting into our Retail Manager, the Retail Operations Executive will support in the development and execution of our ambitious retail strategy through monitoring the performance and compliance of our business partners whilst having a strong operational presence to ensure an excellent customer experience for our passengers.

About the Role…

The Retail Operations Executive will be a visible presence within our airport operation; regularly checking standards throughout the terminal and feed back to our business partners on findings, areas for improvement and follow up actions. By building effective and productive working relationships with our Business Partners they’ll understand and influence compliance and performance whilst completing routine operational and compliance reviews with all our retail and catering partners.

They’ll be proactive in identifying proposals for improvement to maximise compliance and revenue potential, including the development of business partner incentives and initiatives and will welcome all new business partners to the Airport, ensuring they have all the required documentation and contact with relevant stakeholders they require to settle into the Airport environment effectively.

They’ll maintain departmental policies, procedures, templates and the commercial contracts summary packs and schedule whilst producing the Commercial/Bristol Airport business updates for our Quarterly Commercial meetings, the Bristol Airport ‘brochure’ and for any new commercial development opportunities.

In addition, the role will also include:

  • Liaising with our Customer Relations Team regarding complaints about our commercial products and services, undertaking investigations and recommending improvements.
  • Overseeing the commercial performance of ancillary products including Fast Track security, making recommendations for product development, pricing, ecommerce and third-party distribution channel development to grow revenue.
  • Assisting with the identification of potential operators/brands for both new and existing categories ahead of tender programmes, researching and proposing ideas for new revenue opportunities.

About You…

We’re looking for an applicant who has the proven ability to build effective and constructive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders with the confidence to influence and challenge where necessary. You’ll be proactive and self-motivated with keen attention to detail, with the ability to see the importance of how small changes can influence the bigger picture.

You’ll be experienced in working in an exciting, fast paced environment with the ability to research, analyse and interpret detailed data to make timely and relevant product recommendations with a good understanding of process and the importance of compliance.

You’ll be ICT savvy and be able to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion and diplomacy at all times.

You’ll be adaptable in your approach to work and have a willingness to work some non-sociable working hours to meet the needs of the operation at peak times.
