Job description
We are looking for a new Operations Manager to be responsible for the day to day running of our growing iron foundry. Working closely with the Managing Director your main responsibilities will include:
· Co-ordination of all aspect of all production operations, to ensure that output, quality & delivery targets are achieved and that all relevant health, safety and quality standards are observed.
· Direct management of all manufacturing departments and the department foremen; pattern shop, moulding shop, blast/fettling & despatch.
· Develop and implement short and long-term plans to ensure that the foundry has the necessary resources to meet business objectives.
· Management and implementation of quality control systems, health and safety practises and company policy.
· Direct and control all foundry staff to ensure that they are properly motivated, trained and developed, and carry out their responsibilities to the required standards and in accordance with health, safety and quality standards.
· Achieve required physical and financial performance targets for production and distribution.
· Report the factory’s performances regularly and accurately, together with other matters of importance, to the Director.
· Maximisation of space utilisation in each department with a key focus of reducing cost and increasing productivity
· All aspects of Health & safety
· Monthly reporting of KPI's to Managing Director
· Oversee technical delivery of Projects & maintenance
· Develop all necessary policies and procedures to ensure that plant and equipment is effectively maintained to ensure maximum production efficiency.
· Responsible for driving business change
· Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff.
The ideal candidate must have:
· Proven experience in a heavy engineering company, but ideally with a foundry background. Jobbing foundry experience would be highly beneficial.
· 5 years operations management experience minimum
· IOSH accreditation and a diploma in Metallurgy beneficial
