Operations Manager
2mv Logistics Ltd based in Portsmouth are a local family run haulage firm located just off the M27.
We are a busy transport company, that specialise in freight forwarding, full and part loads, part of The Pallet Network and Hazchem network, & deal with airfreight, sea freight and road freight around the world.
We are recruiting for a talented Operations Manager/ Depot Manager to look after our UK freight.
The Role
The operations function is at the heart of the business- your core role will be to ensure a seamless delivery/collection service for our customers from start to finish on time every time.
- You will be looking after the day to day UK operations of the business. This includes 36 drivers, warehouse operatives and the UK administration staff.
- Managing the trunk vehicles and drivers daily, ensuring freight is cleared from hubs and delivered on time.
- Ensure national and local KPI’S are achieved and corrective action is taken in a timely manner when required.
- To actively seek opportunities for increasing external revenue – cutting down on temp drivers, getting backloads etc.
- Working closely with the transport manager and warehouse Supervisor ensuring all relevant Health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to, along with implementing new policies and procedures where necessary.
- Responsible for dealing with customer complaints and ensuring all queries are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Achieving compliance with internal company procedures.
- Making sure we stay FORS compliant.
- Dealing with HR issues; for example hiring, performance reviews, disciplinary, dismissal, sick and holidays, staff inductions etc.
- Managing all training relevant to drivers, and warehouse staff.
The Requirements
- This role is hands on and the correct person needs to be a confident critical-thinker that can jump into many different situations and come up with solutions. You need to think logically and creatively. Be proactive with planning and forward thinking with decisions.
- Someone who can bring a positive impact, with fresh ideas.
- Will have 2 years minimum experience in a similar job role within a pallet network environment.
- To have an effective involvement in business projects.
- To be flexible with working hours – 1O hour shift –start time varies to the need of the business.
- Proactively encouraging a positive and upbeat relationship with employees, customers and suppliers.
- Strong Leadership skills
Desirable criteria but not essential
- Transport Manager CPC Holder
- Previous ADR experience
- IOSH Health and Safety
- Experience with FORS
- Fork Lift Licence

Salary: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
