Position Job Title: Operations Manager
A key member of the sites Senior Management Team supporting the development and achievement of the business strategy.
Develop strong, clear leadership and vision, translating the site strategy into the Operations department and promote continuous improvement, empowerment, career development, motivation, participation and team working.
- Ensure you and your teams adhere to Company policies at all times.
Lead & manage all aspects of operational activity on the Swansea site. The principal areas being Extrusion, Finishing & Print.
- Set & influence your team to achieve all operational targets and operational excellence programmes and deliver measurable continuous improvement whilst looking to reduce costs wherever possible.
Ensure excellent levels of customer service and product quality
Turnover for the Plant: €39m- Number of direct reports: 4 (~140 indirect reports)

Principal Accountabilities
- OHSE
- Be an ambassador for leading safety culture.
- Drive implementation of action to achieve critical risk standards
- Continuously support the OHSE agenda to ensure zero accidents
Senior Management Team (SMT) Member- Contribute to the setting and delivery of the overall Business Strategy
- Provide clear and accurate communications within the Operations & Management Teams on operational performance & continuous improvement activities
- Operations
- Deliver continuous improvement plans for all aspects of the site operations
- Responsible for managing approved CEAV to improve site safety, quality, waste and operational efficiency.
- Maintain effective management information systems that provide data to develop operational excellence and accurate timely reporting.
- Ensure timely execution of the production plan by optimising capacity to meet demand.
- Support the maintenance and development of site management system
- Be aware of and implement all legislation relevant to the production operation
- Support the optimisation of working capital through the reduction of inventory
- Deliver key capital investment projects
Production- Develop exceptional practices to maximise quality, output and minimise waste)/downtime and manufacturing cost.
Engineering- Develop exceptional practices to improve machine reliability & engagement of the engineering team in quality improvement & waste reduction activities & initiatives.
- Support the engineering function during major engineering projects.
Team Development- Develop all team members through effective performance review and appraisal.
- Set individual/group improvement targets that deliver or support the business improvement strategies.
- Uphold discipline and build development, succession plans and training programs for the Operations team.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Formal Qualifications and Experience
- Proven senior Operations Management experience, gained in a fast paced, manufacturing environment
- Experience in (flexible) packaging (desirable but not essential)
- First-hand experience of Lean and continuous improvement methodologies e.g. Six Sigma, Kaizen etc.
- Knowledge of production machines, tools and related process control equipment, energy management, GMP’s, SAP and shop floor systems, safety and environmental regulation (UK, EU), use of statistic calculation tools, basics of finance, Integrated Quality Assurance Systems (EHS, quality);
