We are a chocolate company, who make and pack our chocolate products in our factory in Kent.
We are looking for a operations director, or a very experienced operations manager looking to take a step up to operations director.
We need someone with experience in dealing with staff, scheduling, planning, day to day running of a factory, ensuring accurate stock control, overseeing a warehouse and other duties required for the role of operations director.
The role is hands on, as well as senior enough to also be hands off, so would suit someone who is happy to lead a team and to build a structure and systems.
The role would include:
- Delegate workloads to relevant line managers / supervisors
- Drive for success in terms of output, quality, OTIF order fulfilment etc.
- Ensure all systems operate smoothly and align with our quality standards
- Maximize the efficiency of all business procedures and equipment
- Establish production KPIs and conduct quality assessments
- Monitor daily operations and address potential issues when they arise
- Build processes that meet our business objectives
- Monitor financial data and recommend solutions that will improve profitability
- Recruit, select, train, assign, schedule, coach, counsel, and discipline employees
- Lead operational & strategic plans; prepare plus complete action plans; implement production, productivity, quality, high level customer-service standards; resolve problems; complete audits; identify trends etc.
- Develop operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements; develop & implement the processes effectively
- Improve organisational process and workflow, employee and space requirements, and manufacturing equipment layout to drive output
- Meet or exceed operations labour budget expectations & KPI's
- Manage staff levels, wages, hours, contract labour plus revenues
- Track vendor pricing, rebates, and service levels
- Communicate & resolve / eradicate customer issues with the site team
- Work closely with the Management Team to set and/or implement policies, procedures, and systems and to follow through with implementation
- Develop, implement, and review operational policies and procedures
- Assist HR with recruiting key personnel

- Oversee budgeting, reporting, planning, and auditing
- Identify and address problems and opportunities for the company
This role demands a high level of attention to detail, you should be someone who loves to work in fast paced environments with the ability to multi-task and work on your own initiative. You should have excellent communication skills and be someone who actively works on building relationships inside and outside the business with the drive to continuously improve processes and performance.
Experience working with chocolate or food production is an advantage.
