The Department of Music has 22 members of academic staff, around 150 undergraduates, 40
research postgraduates, and 100 postgraduates on taught courses. It is one of the largest and
most vibrant academic music departments in the UK, covering musicology, performance,
ethnomusicology, composition, psychology of music, music education, music technology and
music management. It offers a range of exciting programmes at undergraduate, taught postgraduate and doctoral levels and ranked 6th in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, in
which 84% of research was deemed ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’.

We are seeking to recruit an Operations Assistant on an open-ended parttime contract.
You will join a dynamic Professional Service Team and work closely with the other Operations Assistant.
Reporting to the Department Manager, you will provide administrative support across a wide range of operational matters central to the effective running of the Department including, although not exclusively, estates, student support, HR, health and safety and committee servicing.
You will deal effectively with a range of enquiries, in person, on the telephone and in writing, providing excellent customer service and advice.
You will assist with financial processes and will be responsible for daily operational duties such as stationery supplies, departmental post, general housekeeping.
You will be responsible for the administration of departmental events (e.g. Open Days) and will be the main point of contact for catering bookings and room bookings.
