We are seeking a supportive and enthusiastic Pupil Support Assistant to join us at St George’s School.
The postholder will support a named child with Down’s syndrome to access a specialised curriculum in Primary 2, building on progress made from nursery and Primary 1. This post is for one academic year, covering session REPLACEMENT_STRING24.
The Pupil Support Assistant will work closely in a team with the Primary 2 Class Teacher, Junior School Support for Learning teacher, other adults in the room (including the Classroom Assistant) and with additional Junior School staff. This may include undertaking daily tasks of educational, personal and social care and support for the named child, alongside some administrative support for the child.
Main ResponsibilitiesMain responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- To contribute to the delivery of a specialised curriculum and to provide a service compatible with good practice in the education and care of the named child within the policies and systems laid down by the School.
- To contribute to the pastoral care of the named child and for providing support in monitoring and recording their overall developmental milestones and progress.
- To help promote a stimulating environment which balances education and care for the named child, meeting their individual needs and those of their family, enabling the named child to achieve their full potential.
- In keeping with current Junior School good practice, to report to the parents on a regular basis, with the highlights of the day and targets to work towards.
