In coordination with the patient's Oncologist and NP, the Oncology Coordinator will plan, implement, coordinate and evaluate services for patients as appropriate through the continuum of the cancer diagnosis through Survivorship.
The role facilitates services to meet individual's health needs through application of clinical knowledge of outpatient and inpatient settings and frequent interactions with a variety of clinical and non-clinical roles.
The oncology coordinator conducts patient studies to evaluate activities and outcomes. The coordinator may recommend, develop and coordinate improvement activities. The oncology coordinator may also be responsible for the development of educational materials, following-up with patients during hospitalization and participate with multidisciplinary roles to reduce readmissions. The coordinator may be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills:
- At least three (3) years clinical experience in oncology.
- Prior Outpatient Clinic experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, interpersonal, and facilitation skills
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft office suite programs.
- Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to organize, analyze and present data
- Patient education
- Demonstrated ability working well with patients/families, physicians, nursing and ancillary staff
License/Certification/Registration Requirements
- Valid California RN license
- Current BLS certifications
- Oncology Certification (OCN) required
Education: Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN)
