Job Introduction
An exciting opportunity has arisen, we are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and highly skilled Emergency Department Nurse to join our medical team on-set at BBC Casualty. We are passionate about our award winning BAFTA, NTA, Rose d'Or show and looking for an individual to keep us winning !!
Our team are looking for an experienced ED nurse who practices contemporary and evidence-based medicine to bring their knowledge and skills to our programme.
Main Responsibilities
We need a proactive individual, who is an excellent communicator and works with a solution-based attitude to help us create an authentic medical drama for our viewers.
Our on-set nurse is responsible for ensuring medical accuracy during filming, replicating a realistic emergency department and is able to use their advanced practice knowledge and training to inform our artist’s performance.
As a practicing health care professional, we expect up to date practice to be utilised. As our team expands, we are looking for our successful candidate to complement our team’s skill set and develop our capabilities.

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Experience of working at a senior nurse level in an acute emergency department.
- Advanced clinical skills.
- Enthusiastic about great medical drama ..
- Appropriate level of technical knowledge regarding the operation of specialist medical equipment
- Ability to accurately interpret production requirements with regards to cost, schedule, and logistical implications from the brief or script.
- Ability to gather relevant information from a range of sources and distribute promptly to team members.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to negotiate and persuade a wide range of internal and external contacts.
- The ability to draw on a range of strategies and styles to persuade others to reach agreement, resolution or behavior change.
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to establish credibility with colleagues and to foster effective working relationships with a wide range of production and non-production personnel, internal and external to the BBC.
- The ability to anticipate the factors likely to cause problems to the production and formulate appropriate contingency plans.
- Excellent problem-solving skills drawing on a wide range of sources and experience. .
- The ability to transform creative ideas into practical reality.
- The ability to work as part of a team but also the ability to work under own initiative when necessary and take responsibility for the medical aspects of your episodes .
- The ability to work with large groups of approximately 30-50 people on a daily basis both in front of and behind camera to assert a high standard of medical accuracy and as per final script or amendments.
- Resilience and stamina sufficient to sustain performance when under pressure from tight schedules and long working hours.
- The ability to understand and appreciate different/opposing perspectives on an issue and resolve conflict professionally when necessary.
- The ability to adapt to change as necessary.

- The ability to organize your own episodes and to work collaboratively with the other onset medical advisors to help them when they are busy and in turn they will help you ..
- Ability to keep abreast of professional, technological and working practice changes.

Plus….would be desirable, but not essential:
- Experience of working within a television environment beneficial not essential we can train you in.
- Recent experience of working in the Emergency Department.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Salary: £40,382.82-£59,340.53 per year

- Cardiff, CF10 4GA: Relocate before starting work (preferred)
