The Department of Human Resources is seeking to fill an Assistant Counsel position. The Assistant Counsel classification is a non-supervisory/management role. The position falls within the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Division within DOHR. This position is located in Nashville, Tennessee and is full-time (37.5 hours/week). DOHR employees are working primarily remotely. This opportunity requires a Tennessee law license. At least one year of full-time practice as an attorney is preferred but not required. Experience in employment law including but not limited to conducting workplace investigations, review and analysis of policy, and familiarity with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities:
- Intake and completion of intake interviews for workplace complaints involving workplace discrimination and harassment, abusive conduct in the workplace/workplace bullying, violence in the workplace, retaliation, and related workplace policies.
- Gathers and reviews relevant information and documentation and conducts analysis based on workplace policies and procedures and prepares written communications and memorandums related to workplace investigations.
- Provides employment law-related support and guidance to DOHR and other state agencies and entities.
Requirements:
The candidate must possess: (1) a Juris Doctor degree and (2) a valid Tennessee law license.
