Occupational Therapy Technician, Band 3
Permanent - Full Time - 37.5 hours per week
The Intensive Home Treatment Team is part of the Older People’s Mental Health Services of Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust that works across the Boroughs of Bromley, Bexley, and Greenwich. The post holder will work with the Occupational Therapists in the Intensive Home Treatment Team to deliver interventions recommended after an Occupational Therapy assessment. The post holder will also work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate the implementation of a comprehensive service to clients. The post holder will be involved in planning and running groups, assisting in discharge planning, and supporting clients to facilitate social inclusion. The post holder will have an allocated number of clients and will support them in their own home on a short-term basis.
All OT clinical work will be carried out under the supervision of the occupational therapists.
- Work as part of the OA IHTT multi-disciplinary team (MDT)
- Use technical, creative, and psychosocial skills to deliver occupational therapy intervention to assist in the provision of a flexible, client centred programme of therapeutic activities for individuals/groups of service users who experience mental health difficulties.
- Have an awareness of social inclusion and skills development and ensure activities used focus on these objectives
- Work autonomously under the guidance of the ward occupational therapists and member of MDT to implement treatment for service users with mental health issues impacting upon function. This will entail both group and 1-1 work.
- Provide treatment in accordance with individualised care plans under the supervision of an occupational therapist
- Support service users to undertake daily activities that are designed to support recovery and independence as directed by the occupational therapist /MDT.
- Attend and contribute to staff and team meetings as required
- Take part in regular supervision and appraisal and attend and participate in mandatory courses and training as indicated.
- Participate in the process of multi-disciplinary working by exchanging appropriate information with service users, staff, carers and others maintaining adherence to data protection guidance and confidentiality at all times.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed

- To develop an awareness of and utilise to the benefit of clients, resources available to older people within the Boroughs of Bromley, Bexley and Greenwich.
- To liaise and link with resources and services within Bromley, Bexley and Greenwich in regard to mental health needs.
- To undertake additional delegated responsibilities as directed by Occupational Therapy supervisor.
- Communicate with service users their family and carers.
- Provide feedback on therapeutic activities to supervisor, Occupational Therapy colleagues and MDT.
