Occupational Therapy Technician
Temporary for 2 years Full time 37 hours per week
We are looking for a dynamic and autonomous Occupational Therapy (OT) Technician to join a forward thinking team within the Education Directorate in NPT Local Authority. The team consists of OTs and Advisory staff, including Speech Therapists. We also work closely with the Paediatric OT Team within Swansea Bay University Health Board. The role will be supporting the management of specialist equipment for Children and Young People (CYP) in schools across NPT, including the recycling and reusing of equipment, to improve participation in school. The post holder will need to have experience of postural management and specialist seating and have good organisational skills. The role will also involve working alongside the Local Authority OT Team in supporting schools via advice clinics and training.
The main duties of the post;
To be a fully engaged member of the Local Authority Occupational Therapy Team providing a service to the schools, children and young people and families.
To undertake assessment of specialist equipment with individual CYP as directed by an Occupational Therapist underpinned by appropriate experience/knowledge.
Supporting the current Local Authority Occupational Therapists in delivering training to schools, as well as contributing to much needed OT advice clinics.
The Occupational Therapy Technician may support the LA in delivering training to schools, in addition to providing support and advice around the pending new legislation in relation to Liberty Standards.
You will have experience of;
- working within health or social care settings and school environments.
- working with CYP with complex ALN.
- working single handed or in groups with clients, including working in the community.
- monitoring and maintaining specialist equipment.
Ideally you will have the Quality Credit Framework qualification at level 4 e.g NVQ or OCN related to Health & Social Care or be prepared to work towards.
