Job description
The post holder will be responsible for providing the leadership for the therapy Medical team, setting the strategy for the therapy provision for the clinical areas in collaboration with the professional leads and specialist staff within the department and consideration of current best practices. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that specific management responsibilities are completed i.e. day-to-day management of the team, annual leave, sickness monitoring, appraisals, completion of PDPs and competencies as required for duties and recruitment for any vacancies. Responsibility for a clinical caseload to patients in conjunction with the other therapists within the team, additionally, the post holder will be expected to undertake any priority clinical obligations or responsibilities in the absence of other members of the wider therapies teams as agreed with the Therapy leads.
The post holder will both formally and informally supervise Band 6 and 5 therapists, assistants and students. To act as a co-ordinator for the medical escalation beds and work collaboratively with other therapy team leaders to ensure adequate therapy provision. To provide specialist education and advice as required and provide a high standard of Therapy to patients referred to the Team underpinned by advanced theoretical knowledge, specialist skills and relevant practical experience in acute medicine and hospital discharge/transfer facilitation. The postholder is expected to provide teaching, training, support and specialist clinical advice to other Therapists, professionals, multi-disciplinary staff and students, both within and outside the Trust.
The post holder will lead and participate in the provision of 7 day services for medical in conjunction with other therapy leads. The post holder will be responsible for his or her own Continual Professional Development (CPD). To identify areas of development both for the service, team members and personal growth.
