As part of a brand new Young Adults service, we are looking for an enthusiastic & forward thinking Occupational Therapist Assistant. They will join an energised multidiscipline team to provide innovative care for young women in custody. This client group has a complexity of health & social needs. The OT Assistant will have a dynamic job, supporting the implementation of intervention for young adults with complex needs at HMP Bronzefield. This will include work on an allocated wing, as well as working with young people in other locations within the prison.
Under supervision the post holder will develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care on an individual and group basis and hold an individual case.
An essential part of this role will be working alongside partnership agencies, operational colleagues and other organisations that provide care, enrichment and support of the individuals that we work with. The role will include working closely within the multi-disciplined specialist team. This will involve being responsive to the needs of fluctuating mental health needs of prisoners and remaining mindful of the unique challenges faced by women within a custodial setting.

Under supervision the post holder will:
- Offer individual and group intervention in response to the needs of service users
- Attend team meetings and prison forums that contribute to the care and safety of young adults in custody
- Offer a high level of care that is accessible to those with varying communication requirements
- Assess and manage risk, inline with local and trust policy. This will include a working understanding and response of safeguarding responsibilities as well as a dynamic approach to risk assessment and management
- Support the learning of colleague as needed
