Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and caring individual to join our Ongoing Support Team (Adults) as an Occupational Therapy Assistant on a 12 month fixed term contract.
LIVE WORK SUPPORT
You will be integral to our friendly team of Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Social Workers, Social Care Practitioners, Advanced Practitioners, Managers and Apprentices.
About the role
You will make recommendations for the provision of major adaptations, including referrals for Disabled Facilities Grants, making links between Adult Social Care, Housing and Housing Associations.
You will also work with people in their own homes and focus on the relationships between the activities they want and need to do every day. You will help them to address the challenges they face and create effective solutions to promote independence, health, and wellbeing, as well as providing professional advice and guidance to customers of all tenures about the suitability of their home and supporting them to make decisions that will best meet their needs.
Challenges faced may include environmental barriers such as the person no longer being able to access their home safely and effectively. A key focus of the role is to help the individual to overcome these barriers by using creative ways to adapt the environment, the occupation, or the way the person engages in their chosen occupations.
You will ensure that our customers’ homes meet their needs and maintain their independence, considering the use of aids/equipment or adaptations, or alternatively support to move home, and make recommendations for the provision of major adaptations, including referrals for Disabled Facilities Grants, making links between Adult Social Care, Housing and Housing Associations.
About You
You must be patient, compassionate and empathic, with the ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds. You will be passionate about helping people, with the ability to be caring and encouraging in your approach.
You will show initiative and have excellent organisational and time management skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team and independently. Tact, sensitivity, and an inert ability to focus on an individual’s strengths and needs is also essential.
Interviews will take place on Friday, 13th October 2023.
