Priory Hospital Arnold provides acute adult mental health services, delivered in partnership with Nottinghamshire Healthcare Trust at our purpose built facility in Arnold. We work closely with referring Trusts to achieve minimum lengths of stay, and are able to provide an extension to NHS care pathways during times of fluctuating demand. The service offers a multidisciplinary team approach, working collaboratively to support patients through periods of crisis. The hospital comprises of 4 wards, 2 Acute wards and 2 PICU wards with a total of 52 inpatient beds.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the OT team. The post holder will be supervised and work with an Occupational Therpist to deliver meaningful activities and interventions which provide a daily structure, support skills, development and recovery for patients. This will also include some aspects of personal care.
The successful candidate will;
1.Support senior staff with patient screening and assessments as part of the care and therapy planning process.
2. Prepare, plan and deliver group and individual recreational and occupational activities, observing, recording and reporting patient responses to the assigned clinician as appropriate.
3. Ensures the effective, timely and accurate updating of clinical records, case files and computerised information systems as directed. 4. Contributes to surveys, audits and clinical research projects assisting with collection, analysis and presentation of data and information as directed.
5. Observes and monitors the well being of patients ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to more senior staff and documented as appropriate.
The successful candidate will work within a team that consists of an OT Lead, OT and 3 Occupational Therapy Assistants that will cover the 4 wards over a 7 day period. Therefore the role will be expected to work weekends and evenings as part of a rota that is similar to the current HCA rota. Whilst there is some flexibility within hours, the expectation is 12 hours per shift on a 3/4 day rota which meets the need of the hospital.
