Role: Occupational Therapy Assistant
Location: Southampton
Salary: £24,000 - £28,000 pa
Hours: Full time 37.5 hrs per week, Monday - Friday 08:00 - 16:00pm or 09:00 - 17:00pm
We have an exciting new post working as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, supported by a Qualified Occupational Therapist across 3 sites on the South Coast: Bournemouth, Southampton and Portsmouth Sites
A generous additional yearly car allowance of £4k will be available for travel between sites on the South Coast- plus normal mileage allowance

We require an Occupational Therapy Assistant to work flexibly across 3 depots on the South Coast . We would ideally like an experienced OTA/Healthcare Associate Practitioner who has knowledge of community equipment, disability, and assessment. We would, however, consider candidates with an ability and drive to learn new skills.
We run an Apprentice Scheme and support one student per year to train as an Occupational Therapist
You will be supported by an expanding clinical team and alongside a qualified Occupational Therapist who will work between the 3 depots alongside you.
We also have a committed Operational Team who are dedicated to providing an excellent service and you will be encouraged to work closely with the team.
What we look for in an Occupational Therapy Assistant:
- Relevant additional qualifications e.g. NVQ Level II / III in Health and Social Care
- Demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge and skills in the field of the equipment needs of adults and children. (Training can be provided)
- Demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge of conditions and disability
- Have experience of working with people who have a disability
- Work with the NRS OT and prescribers to promote effective partnership working.
- Work in partnership with Adult Social Care, therapy and community nursing staff in Kent, the community equipment service, and other agencies as necessary.
- Attend or lead meetings as and when required
- Proficient IT skills
- Participate in NRS Healthcare's appraisal and supervision processes
- Fully compliant with all relevant mandatory training as and when required.
- Participate in service development and training as required.

Key Responsibilities:
- Cataloguing special equipment effectively, keeping the on-line catalogue up to date
- Liaising with prescriber about equipment available and signposting to recycled equipment where possible enabling savings for the commissioners
- Document and keep records of savings for commissioners
- Liaison with equipment companies about special equipment, parts and repairs
- Attending Equipment Review Groups on behalf of NRS when necessary
- Providing training to prescribers, as appropriate and supported by the OT, on new items of equipment and equipment on the standard equipment catalogue.
- Supporting the OTs in developing special projects as agreed with the commissioners
- Keeping an accurate record of work undertaken
- Responding to telephone or email queries from prescribers and commissioners
- Offering support or training either over the phone or face to face regarding the use of IRIS and the special equipment ordering process.
- Supporting the Customer Support Assistants in their daily contact with prescribers and their queries.
