Ann House is part of Elysium Healthcare and provides a residential rehabilitation setting based in the local community in Cumbria that supports its residents in all aspects of daily life. Residents may have a diagnosis of Autism, Learning Disability, Personality Disorder, Mental Health condition or deemed to have complex needs. Through a range of therapeutic interventions, the aim is to ensure that all residents are supported to live as independent a life as possible, they find enjoyable and is meaningful to them.
Working 20 hours a week, you will support the Occupational Therapist at Ann House. Working closely with the Occupational Therapist, you will be required to apply technical and creative skills in the provision of a flexible, person – centred programme of Occupational Therapy Assessments and interventions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Under the guidance and direction of the Occupational Therapist, provide individual or group activities in line with identified need.
- To build an understanding of the key concepts of the Model of Human Occupation and the core values of Occupational Therapy.
- To build knowledge of Occupational Therapy assessments with support of the Occupational Therapist.
- To assist in the completion of Specific Occupational assessments under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist.
- Evaluate and use assessment information to support ongoing occupational development of individuals we support.
- With support from the Occupational Therapist, develop and demonstrate understanding of activity analysis and graded interventions.
- To consult with the Occupational Therapist regarding the needs of individuals we support ensuring we are meeting their needs at all times.
- To provide verbal and written feedback of interventions as required within company policies and procedures.
- Formulate activity risk assessment/enablement plans under the direct supervision of the Occupational Therapist.
- To contribute to Multi-disciplinary reports and attend MDT meetings (where appropriate) with support from Occupational Therapist.
To be successful in this role you will have the following qualifications and experience:
- NVQ Level 2 or above / equivalent
- Experience in a similar environment & Mental Health
- Verbal & written communication skills
- Enthusiastic – Motivated and motivating
- Flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the service
- Able to demonstrate good organisational skills and time management skills
- Active in progressing and enhancing knowledge related to the role
- Approachable and a team player
