Introduction
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to recruit to the position of Assistant Psychologist to join the Therapy Team at Barnet Lane Clinic. This locked Rehabilitation Hospital is for males and females.
The hospital treats people with a range of mental health difficulties and personality disorders. A significant part of the role will be to support the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Team to provide specialist treatment for the patients with a diagnosis of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD).
We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist with experience of working with, or an interest in working with, people who have a diagnosis of EUPD, or who have emotion regulation difficulties. This role would suit someone with training or experience in DBT skills and /or running groups.
The therapy team consists of Consultant Clinical Psychologist, an Assistant Psychologist, an Occupational Therapist, and Occupational Therapy Assistant and an Activity Coordinator.
Barnet Lane Clinic, is part of Elysium Healthcare, is an independent 30 bedded hospital set in extensive gardens in Borehamwood in Hertfordshire.
Reporting to a Registered Psychologist, you will join the psychology team where you will be guided and supervised as you assist with assessments, formulations and treatments to people within a group and 1-1 setting.
As a Psychologist Assistant, you will assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
Your responsibilities will include:
- To hold a caseload of clinical work, including carrying out individual psychological intervention
- Undertake collaborative risk assessment and management for individual patients and to provide general advice
- Carry out these duties in consultation with the Lead Psychologist and identified supervisor, and contribute to the maintenance and development of a high quality psychological service
To be successful in this role, you'll need
- Upper second class honours degree in Psychology
- Relevant paid or voluntary work with people with mental health problems/Learning Disability.
- To meet professional practice expectations and the BPS code of ethics
- A BPS accredited recognised degree in Psychology conferring Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR)
