Development post to Band 5 (ANNEX 21 framework)

An exciting opportunity is available for the right candidate to join LCHS NHS Trust as an Occupational Therapy Apprentice. This is a development post and the right candidate will need to demonstrate that they are highly motivated, problem solvers, demonstrate good time management, and a willingness to succeed using the LCHS values. The apprenticeship is a mixture of academic study, clinical placements and implementing those skills whilst working the rest of the time in your set team.

You will be based as a paid employee within LCHS in one of our Lincolnshire departments responsible for therapy contracted on standard AFC Terms and conditions with the addition of the ANNEX 21. Under ANNEX 21 you will see increases in your pay based on your acquired and applied theory to practice over the subsequent years of study.

The academic element of the apprenticeship will be provided by Sheffield Hallam University over 3 years.

Conditional offer interviews will be held by LCHS NHS Trust on

w/c 21st July '23 via MS Teams between 09:00am and 16.30pm

Acceptance interviews by Sheffield Hallam University will be held on: TBC

Entry Requirements:
There is an expectation from LCHS NHS Trust applicants as a minimum have already attained a L3 Healthcare related qualification in Therapy, Care Certificate and English and Maths.

You work as an autonomous practitioner, either within a team or on an individual basis. Through assessment, intervention, critical reflection and the application of analytical skills, you demonstrate how you collaboratively reach solutions through occupations to the issues people face. You will be responsible and accountable for your decisions, and for reflecting on the effectiveness of your actions, with the aim of continually improving the service you provide. You demonstrate leadership and management qualities and are responsible for ensuring your own knowledge and skills are current. You are required within the professional and regulatory standards to contribute to the development of the profession by supporting student therapists and supervising those in other roles

On successful completion of the Occupational Therapy Apprenticeship, apprentices are eligible to apply to the HCPC for registration as an Occupational Therapist, which is a requirement to practice under the protected title of Occupational Therapist. You will also be eligible to apply for Professional Membership of The Royal College of Occupational Therapists.

Due to the nature of the Apprenticeship we are looking for especially motivated candidates. People who see a problem or a challenge and work through and around it in innovative ways. Time management and prioritisation skills are key, not just in the practice element but also to handle the academic requirements. The ability to relate to different people, in different situations is paramount.
