Job description
Harrow Council is looking for three Occupational Therapists each to be the allocated Occupational Therapist for adults and children with physical disabilities.
The role includes providing preventative support to promote independence and responsibility for assessing, developing, reviewing and monitoring individual care plans in relation to adaptations, equipment, and moving and handling for independent living.
The post holder(s) will work within a strength-based model, focusing on prevention and promoting independence, and identifying solutions to support the citizen to remain in their own home.
You will also be responsible for commissioning services for the provision of adaptations and equipment in order to enable citizens and their carers to develop the full potential for independent living.
About you:- Working knowledge of all statutory duties and responsibilities relating to children and families, including:
- Legislation (e.g. Children Act 1989, Care Act 2014 Mental Capacity Act 2005Disability Discrimination Act, Manual Handling Regulations, Housing Regeneration Act, etc)
- Regulations and Standards
- Government Objectives and Initiatives
- National and Common Assessment Framework
- A recognised, professional Occupational Therapy qualification.
- Good understanding of the Children Act 1989, the Care Act 2014 and subsequent relevant legislation, regulations and guidance relating to disabled children and adults.
- Good understanding of Manual Handling Regulations.
- The ability to work within an interdisciplinary group and liaise with other agencies.
- Experience of assessment planning and delivering packages of care.
- Knowledge of the physical, social and emotional aspects of disability.
