The Children and Young Person’s (CYP) Occupational Therapy team is offering an exciting opportunity to be part of an experience and growing service as an Occupational Therapist.
The paediatric Occupational Therapy team consists of Advanced Practitioner Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Senior Occupational Therapy Assistants and Occupational Therapy Assistants. We are part of the Children and Young People’s specialist service, Inclusion Somerset.
We work in partnership, with our fellow professional therapist colleagues in Education, Health, Social worker colleagues in Children Social Care alongside a range of other professionals within the local authority, home improvement agencies and the voluntary sector.

What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of children here in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. As an Occupational Therapist your day-to-day work will involve:
- Working with children and young people who have a range of severe and complex disabilities.
- Completing full functional assessments.
- Working in a variety of environments including the child’s home, educational settings, and carer’s homes if appropriate.
- Offering advice and information.
- Making recommendations for specialist equipment, minor and major adaptations, postural management, moving, and handling planning and other services.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training, and guidance to help you be the best you can be. As a Children’s Occupational Therapist, you will be:
- Able to possess and demonstrate your professional skills in assessing, evaluating, and supporting the needs of young children and young people, their families and/or carers to live independently and as safely as possible.
- Registered with HCPC.
- Looking to make a difference and a team player.
- Have practice experience working with CYP or Adults.

Regular line management and professional supervision will be offered, and you will be expected to take part in peer support and supervisions of Senior Occupational Therapy Assistants. Anything else I should know?
The salary for the role is Grade 10, ranging from £32,909 to £37,261 per annum.
Full time and part time roles are available. Subject to meeting qualifying conditions, we offer relocation of up to £8,000 to use towards the cost of relocating to Somerset.
