More detail about the role The Axe Valley Dementia team is a small supportive team based in Axminster and cover the Axe Valley area. (Axminister / Seaton / Colyton and surround area) We are looking to recruit a Band 5 Registered Mental Health Practitioner (OT) who is motivated and excited to work with people living with dementia and their families over 3 days a week. Axe Valley Dementia service is part of the wider MDT in the area specialising in the Assessment, ongoing support, Cognitive Stimulation Therapy and Meaningful Activity for people living with dementia in the Axe Valley area.
Working within groups and in the persons own home. The teams objective is to keep people active, independent and included in society, to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions, reduce the chances of carer breakdown and delay the need for 24-hour residential/ nursing care. You will have ample opportunity to develop your skills in all aspects of Dementia care. Being a good communicator is an essential skill to have in this role.
The applicant should ideally have transferable skills around assessment, treatment and observations of people. Simple wound care and venepuncture would be an advantage. A working knowledge of EPIC (My Care) would also be an advantage. Informal visits are welcome to meet team members and the working environment.
