The role:
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Health Technician to join the team, to enable Hovis to deliver on its vision of being the best quality brand in bakery.
The role will support our Bradford & Nottingham bakeries with support as required to other Hovis sites. This is a full time role that will require a level of flexibility to accommodate a range of shift patterns.
The Occupational Health Technician is part of a multidisciplinary team and will conduct a range of health assessments and screening with colleagues to determine their current level of health in relation to their workplace exposures, ensuring compliance to legislation and company standards.
Working with Occupational Health, HR and Wider Supply Chain teams, some of the key accountabilities include;
Provide new starter screening for all colleagues and agency labour (12 weeks) to ensure compliance with statutory and company standards.- Conduct risk related health surveillance and health screening medicals in accordance with both legislation and Hovis OH and Wellbeing policies and procedures.
- Provide the site(s) with health data analysis based on health surveillance to support compliance, trend risk, prioritise local prevention activities and contribute to company wide policy development.
- Provide advice on individual health issues and promote health education within the workplace to maximise colleague understanding.
- Conduct routine risk assessment e.g. DSE/Pregnancy, and reports in line with location requirements to monitor compliance to legislation and company standards.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive and up to date information in line with legal, professional and site requirements.
- Ensure the safekeeping of all confidential medical records, in accordance with the Company’s GDPR guidelines and ensure auditable information is in place.
Ideal Experiences / Qualifications / Capabilities:
Good communication skills- Good organisational and time management skills
- Confidence to make decisions and use initiative
- Maintains confidentiality and has a good working knowledge of GDPR
- IT literate – be proficient in the use of MS Office applications – Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
- Ability to drive to other locations within their region
- A degree of flexibility to accommodate a range of shift patterns
