Main Purpose of the Role
This role will focus on continuous improvement activities on site and within the wider RWE. In order to continually adapt and change for the market conditions this role will be leading the completion of O&M Projects to improve station performance.
The main focus of the role will be on the delivery of projects which may be related to plant & process, so may be simple tasks such as process documentation production, leading plant installation projects such as new equipment installations and also assisting with and involved with outage planning and execution.
It is expected that this role will be influential in station performance, receiving information from various sources (internally and externally) to determine potential projects, communicating with RWE expertise and contractors to determine the best solution to implement and working with the site team to execute the project. Projects may be of any nature as long as its been determined by the site to be priority and value adding.
The other focus of the role will to support the Operations & Maintenance team through Training and Development. The role will provide Safety Rules training to the team on site and provide Training to both Operations and Maintenance to enable the Cross skilling to occur. There will also be times when other members of the team will be released for project work and this role will lead and support this individual.
This is a key role within the site that has the ability to influence and drive the performance and culture on site with regard to improvements, Competency & standards on site. There will also be occasions whereby the role will be involved with Outage Planning and Execution and also supporting the Operations & Maintenance team in activities such as Work Management.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety and Environmental compliance
- Support the Sections heads in assuring that all legislative and corporate requirements & standards are adopted.
- Assure that all operational & maintenance and engineering plant, equipment and process safety policies & procedures are complied with.
- Assure that the Local and Business Targets (KPIS) are supported and delivered.
Project Delivery
- Support the Section Heads in the leading and management of Operations & Maintenance performance.
- Deliver projects from concept to delivery using the agreed methodology of execution.
- Utilise Operational and plant knowledge to continuously improvement methods of work.
Outage Support
- Assist with outage planning and execution involving both local site teams and RWE OPD teams
- Provide flexibility during the outage to support others.
Continuous improvement
- Review of on site processes leading to implementation of continuous improvement processes across the site (HSE, Plant, Process, People)
- Interface with other sites and teams for best practices and with agreement of the management team lead the implementation of them on site.

• Fully Competent in station operations & Maintenance Processes

Leadership qualities:
- Able to make informed decisions and set the high standards of working on site & RWE.
- Able to engage and influence others to align and focus on an output and timescales
Management qualities:
- Experience of organising and managing project works.
- Experience in delivering improvements with clear defined goals
- Manage their own time and others in terms of managing the execution of the works and deliverables
- Able to manage team tasks through effective delegation and tracking.
- Able to ensure that team members feel empowered and supported into making the right decisions and delivering what is needed.
Personal:
- Demonstrates the ability to deal with constantly changing priorities. Attention to detail is essential; methodical, innovative, numerate, analytical and well organised.
- Experience in Station operations and plant performance.
- High level of awareness of Safety & Environmental
- A number of years experience (10yrs) within the industry with similar skills. Ideally with formal training/skills
- Preferable trained in continuous improvement techniques.
- Thorough understanding of the RWE HC&G UK business strategy and how it adds value to the Business Plan.
- Possess sound knowledge on power generation safety management systems including system Safety Rules. Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, regulations and directives
