Job description

Main duties of the job

1. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in Manual and handling technique after appropriate training.
  • Assist in transfers of patients towards and other departments in the hospital and to stay with patient when required, maintaining privacy and dignity.
  • Assist Registered nurse in providing care for the deceased.
  • Assist Occupational Therapy team in the assessment and rehabilitation of patients towards safe discharge.
  • Perform urinalysis and report findings to requesting practitioner(following appropriate training)
  • Perform cannulation and phlebotomy(following appropriate training)
  • Undertake baseline observations i.e. blood pressure, temperature, pulse, oxygen saturations, respiratory rate and blood glucose monitoring(following appropriate training

2. RESPONSIBILITY FOR PATIENTS

  • Be responsible for safe storage and documentation of patients valuables.
  • Ensure that all TREAT patients in A&E receive lunch and assistance as appropriate.
  • Assist domestic and housekeeping staff in the provision of refreshments to TREAT patients throughout the day

3. RESPONSIBILITY FOR POLICY AND SERVICE DEVELOPMENT

  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by abiding to the health and safety at work act.
