We are looking for enthusiastic, positive and reliable individuals to carry out general nursery duties for children aged 10 weeks to 5 years.
Open-ended position, 20 hours per week, 11.00am - 3.00pm Monday to Friday. We also have an opportunity available from August in a part time capacity 7.5 hours one day a week, preferably Wednesday.
Starting Salary: £11.72 per hour starting salary.
Package includes 32 days holiday per year plus 8 bank holidays, pro rata for part time staff, as well as access to a range of staff discounts and training.
Additional posts may become available in the near future, with various start dates.

The hours will be determined by the Line Manager so that the nursery is staffed from 8.00am - 6.00pm.

Job Description
- To supervise and care for children.
- To participate in a key worker scheme.
- To provide effective liaison with parents.
- To set up nursery equipment, sterilise baby equipment and carry out general cleaning duties to maintain appropriate levels of hygiene.
- To carry out laundry duties.
- To keep records, including development books.
- To report any matters regarding the smooth running of the nursery to the Day Care Management.
- To administer first aid as required.
- To attend and actively participate in all basic training as identified in the Training Matrix.
- To identify your personal training needs in conjunction with your manager, ensuring that learning is transferred to the workplace.
- To actively participate in the Quality and Customer Care initiatives.
- To abide by university policies on Health & Safety.
- To ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in respect of equality and diversity, data protection, copyright and licensing, security, financial and other University policies, procedures and codes as appropriate.
- You may be asked to perform other duties occasionally which are not included above, but which will be consistent with the role.
The role will require a flexible approach to working hours and is 5 days out of 7 (pro rata for part time staff).

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- BTEC, NNEB, CACHE Diploma in Child Care or NVQ Level 3 in Child Care or equivalent.
- Minimum age 18 years.
- Experience in the field of childcare.
- Proven ability to work unsupervised demonstrating initiative.
- Experience of communicating information both orally and in writing, to a wide range of people whilst demonstrating attention to detail and high levels of interpersonal skills.
- Experience of working in a customer focussed environment with an ability to respond to customer needs, including children and parents, in a polite and courteous manner adapting to their requirements accordingly.
- Experience of working well as an effective team member.
- Proven ability to follow instructions and procedures demonstrating good organisational skills.
- Paediatric First Aid Certificate or the willingness to attain one when appointed.
- Evidence of I.T. skills including the use of Internet, Email and Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ideally the successful candidate should be able to communicate in Welsh or have a willingness to learn.

Campus Services provides a range of professional support services to students, staff and visitors at Cardiff University.
Residences manages accommodation places for approximately 5,500 students, both catered and self-catered.
In terms of catering, there are cafés and restaurants conveniently located across university campuses, in addition to a delivered hospitality service.
Cardiff University Sport exists to provide students and staff with a balanced, high quality and integrated sport service which meets the needs of a broad range of users.
The Nursery offers facilities for children aged between 10 weeks and 5 years and is divided into sections appropriate to the ages and development of the children.
Both residential and catering facilities are utilised for conferences and functions during the University’s vacation periods. A purpose built and designed conference centre and conference facility is also available throughout the year.
