“A working from home nurse - How does that work?”
Well, your official job title will be “Disability Assessor” and your remit will be to ensure those who are entitled to disability living allowance – now called Personal Independent Payments – get everything they are entitled to.
“How do I do that from home?”
After your extensive training, you will telephone call claimants to build rapport & assess their needs & requirements, then generate a report based on your professional opinion of their needs.
“Do I make the final decision?”
Put simply – no. Once you have submitted your report, they will be reviewed by a different department to assess & make decisions.
“I got into nursing to help people – will I still help people?”
Without this scheme, without disability assessors, without reports & the structure, service users who are entitled to this would go without. The importance of this role is society cannot be understated.
“Can I pick my hours?”
Again, to put it simply – yes. Full time & part time positions are available, Fridays however, are mandatory across the board, but 3-day, 4 day & 5 day positions are available – should I mention there are no weekends involved – ever.
